    Chapter 7

He’s Way Too Powerful for Someone Who Only Makes Coffee

The S-Rank Who Repays Her Debts

Ten minutes on foot from the Cheongra Guild’s Jeju Branch.

Inside a newly built villa located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Hallim-eup, on the western side of Jeju Island, Seung-gyun and Seung-hee, the two siblings, were busily sweeping the floor and wiping down the window frames.

There were only a few pieces of clothing and some books neatly arranged around the place.

At that moment, Seung-hee wiped the sweat from her forehead and said,

“Oppa, are you really sure it’s okay to close the café for the day? It’s already past the time we normally open.”

“What’s the big deal about closing for a day to help my little sister move? Taking one day off is fine. Besides… I haven’t really contributed anything else, so I should at least put in some physical effort, shouldn’t I?”

    “But…”

Seung-gyun grinned and continued working quickly.

In truth, Seung-gyun and Seung-hee had barely lifted a finger from beginning to end during this move.

Everything had proceeded incredibly smoothly under the direction of Hunter Song Ra-yoon.

From hiring a premium moving company whose services were normally difficult even to reserve, to finding Seung-hee a place to live…

Ra-yoon had provided full support in practically every aspect.

    And on top of that…

“This place is really nice. You can take one bus straight to the café, too, right?”

“Yeah, it’s amazing. This is the first time I’ve ever lived in a place this big.”

    Rattle!

When Seung-gyun opened the window, the sea of Jeju came into view at once.

The villa was a spacious twenty-pyeong unit, more than enough for one person to live in comfortably.

And it was even a jeonse rental.

The problem was that the jeonse deposit hadn’t come from Seung-hee.

It had come directly out of Hunter Song Ra-yoon’s pocket.

“Why is Hunter Song Ra-yoon being so nice to us?”

“Who knows? Maybe she really likes my coffee?”

    “…Hmm. Really?”

Seung-gyun shrugged as he answered, but Seung-hee wasn’t convinced.

From getting her a job at the Cheongra Guild to providing such a spacious villa for free…

‘No matter how wealthy Hunter Song Ra-yoon is, and no matter how much she likes coffee… would someone normally go this far?’

Still, Seung-hee decided to think positively.

Regardless of the reason, she had benefited enormously thanks to her brother.

“I should work hard on developing new menu items from now on. I need to blend beans that can pair with as many different desserts as possible… Yes, that’s definitely what I should do.”

Seung-gyun nodded proudly, scratching the bridge of his nose.

    Then—

    Ding-dong!

    The doorbell rang.

When they opened the door, Song Ra-yoon stood outside in casual clothes, wearing a bright smile.

“Have you finished settling in? Do you… like the place?”

“Hunter! I absolutely love it. I really don’t know how I could ever repay you.”

Seung-hee hurried out barefoot and bowed deeply.

Ra-yoon waved her hands dismissively as she entered the living room.

She carefully looked around every corner of the house before speaking.

“If there’s anything inconvenient, let me know anytime. The guild can take care of everything.”

“Oh, no. This is more than enough. I’ll take care of everything from here, Hunter.”

Song Ra-yoon stared at Kang Seung-gyun and smiled.

Seung-gyun tilted his head and awkwardly smiled back.

    A strange exchange of glances.

‘Well, Unknown Senior, what do you think? I… will repay the favor you’ve shown me.’

‘I’ll keep making coffee diligently from now on, Hunter.’

Of course, the thoughts running through their minds were slightly different from each other.

Watching the two of them, Seung-hee tilted her head in confusion.

    Then Song Ra-yoon asked again,

“By the way, Ms. Seung-hee, have you bought any household items before starting work? The house is practically empty.”

    She looked around the room.

The only things inside were a clothes rack and a small low table.

Seung-gyun answered on his sister’s behalf.

“Oh, we’ll fill it up little by little. I’ll help her choose everything.”

    Seung-gyun smiled as he answered.

    Ra-yoon suddenly clapped her hands.

“Oh! In that case, let’s go shopping today!”

    “…Excuse me?”

“I’ll treat you as a housewarming gift.”

“What? Oh, no! We can take care of this ourselves. You’ve already helped us so much. How could we shamelessly accept even more…”

When the Kang siblings desperately tried to refuse, Song Ra-yoon’s expression suddenly hardened.

“No. You have to accept it. If I don’t take care of things this far, I simply won’t be able to feel at ease.”

    “Ah… understood.”

Her tone was so firm that it was almost chilling.

    ‘Oppa, what’s wrong with Hunter?’

    ‘I don’t know either.’

Overwhelmed by her sheer force of presence, the Kang siblings could only look at each other before eventually nodding.

    “Then… we’ll gratefully accept.”

“Good. Then let’s leave right away!”

    ‘New World Outlet,’ Jeju City

Following Song Ra-yoon’s confident stride, they entered an electronics store.

Under the dazzling lights, rows of the latest appliances overwhelmed the Kang siblings.

“Okay, let’s start with the appliances. Ms. Seung-hee, you’d want a washing machine with a perfect drying function, right?”

Ra-yoon had stopped in front of the premium line from a domestic brand called LQ.

Apparently, it could automatically detect the weight and level of dirt in the laundry, dispense the appropriate amount of detergent, and even open the door automatically after drying to remove moisture.

“I-I think this is too much, Hunter. A regular washing machine would be fine…”

“No. Once you start working as a manager, you won’t even have time to hang laundry out to dry. Something like this isn’t an option; it’s a necessity. What color would you like?”

    “Th-that…”

“If you’re having trouble deciding, just go with beige for now. You can always change it later.”

There was no hesitation whatsoever in Song Ra-yoon’s advance.

Next, they chose a four-door Infinite Line refrigerator that managed food freshness down to microscopic levels.

Then came an 80-inch-class OLED television that would practically fill an entire wall.

Seung-hee grabbed Seung-gyun’s sleeve and trembled.

“Oppa, if you add all of this together, it’s worth as much as a small car. What are we going to do?”

To be honest, I was feeling a little burdened myself…

    No, very burdened.

I had already received the enormous sum of 200 million won, and now she kept buying things for us.

It was becoming a little too much.

“Uh, Hunter… How about we choose some slightly cheaper models? We can just buy something reasonable ourselves.”

I cautiously tried to stop her, but Song Ra-yoon gave me a stern look and shook her head again.

“No. You should buy something good when you’re buying it in the first place. Then it’ll last for ten years. And Ms. Seung-hee is going to be on my dedicated team from now on, isn’t she? She needs to save the energy she’d otherwise spend on household chores so she can be more efficient at work.”

    “But…”

Even in the furniture store, Song Ra-yoon’s rampage didn’t stop.

From a luxury bed designed to perfectly support the curve of the spine…

To a dining table made from Nordic hardwood and a genuine leather sofa…

Ra-yoon carefully selected each piece while taking Seung-hee’s body type and usual movements around the house into consideration.

Just looking at the purchases so far…

‘Haven’t we already spent more than 50 million won?’

By the time Seung-hee’s gratitude had gradually begun turning into genuine concern, Song Ra-yoon had already spent what amounted to an ordinary person’s annual salary in a single day.

Yet she looked refreshed, like a child who had just finished all of their homework.

“Everyone worked hard shopping! Now let’s go eat. There’s a restaurant I go to often.”

“Then I’ll pay for the meal… No, please, let me pay, Hunter!”

“No. Absolutely not. I’m paying for everything today.”

And so, they were dragged to an upscale sashimi restaurant located on a coastal cliff.

The building had a minimalist atmosphere, as though it had been designed by Tadao Ando.

“Oh, welcome back. How would you like your meal prepared?”

“Please give us your finest course. We’re entertaining some very important guests today.”

“Of course. We’ll take excellent care of you.”

They were guided into a private room.

Beyond the enormous windows, the deep blue sea of Jeju stretched out like a panoramic painting.

‘This is starting to feel a little overwhelming.’

A short while later, employees dressed neatly in traditional hanbok entered and began filling the table with all kinds of delicacies.

    Premium Korean beef.

    High-end dageumbari sashimi.

And various elaborate Korean dishes that clearly required an enormous amount of preparation.

    ‘…What is all this?’

    Seung-gyun’s eyes darted around.

For two siblings who had struggled through their twenties while caring for their sick mother, this was a table they could never even have imagined seeing.

“If there’s anything you’re missing, just let me know.”

    “Ah, yes!”

    Dageumbari sashimi.

    Korean beef skirt steak.

All kinds of fried dishes and meticulously prepared Korean cuisine.

Every single bite tasted like something from heaven that they had never experienced before.

    ‘…This is insane.’

‘I’ve never eaten anything like this before.’

But despite the heavenly taste of the food melting in her mouth, Seung-hee’s expression remained complicated.

Around the middle of the meal, she finally couldn’t hold herself back any longer and put down her chopsticks.

“Hunter… If you don’t mind, there’s something I’ve really wanted to ask you.”

    “Go ahead.”

“Why are you being so incredibly kind to me? Getting me a job wasn’t enough—you even helped me move and bought all these appliances… I honestly don’t understand what’s happening.”

Song Ra-yoon’s gaze naturally shifted toward Seung-gyun.

Seung-gyun awkwardly scratched the back of his head and looked away.

‘Why is she looking at me like that?’

At that moment, a strange glint flashed in Ra-yoon’s eyes.

‘Unknown Senior… must be hiding his true identity from his younger sister as well.’

With a broad smile on her face, Song Ra-yoon said,

“I owe the café owner so much. At that café… it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say I’m receiving something more precious than my own life.”

    Her voice was completely serious.

Seung-gyun’s lips twitched as he clenched his fist.

‘I really was right to become a barista.’

One cup of coffee I made was worth something as precious as life itself to an S-rank hunter.

The thought that the skill I had devoted my entire life to had been recognized at the very highest level made my chest swell with pride.

    But…

    ‘All this… just for that?’

Seung-hee clearly wasn’t convinced at all.

Her eyes moved from me to Song Ra-yoon and back again.

Then, as though she had reached a serious conclusion, her eyes narrowed.

‘There’s no such thing as a free lunch. No matter how delicious a cup of coffee is, nobody would go this far just because of it… So if that’s not the reason, then the only possibility left is…’

    Flash!

A certain conclusion formed in Seung-hee’s mind.

‘Could she possibly be romantically interested in my brother?’

Somehow, her train of thought had gone in a very strange direction.

A Few Days Later — Namsan, Seoul, Capital of South Korea

A great deal of chaos had broken out here.

“Phew… Damn bastard. You’re ridiculously strong.”

    “…Still, we’ve almost got it.”

Beneath the shattered Namsan Tower stood a gigantic beast, blood pouring from its entire body.

    The Ultra Beast.

A monster that had emerged from a large Gate that had suddenly appeared without warning.

The Association had classified it as S-rank.

Fortunately, the creature had not yet left the Namsan Tower area to attack civilians.

To capture this one monster, around one hundred hunters from three guilds had been dispatched.

Among them were three S-rank hunters.

    “Grrrrr… GRAAAARGH!”

After a fierce battle, all four of the beast’s legs had been bound by golden chains.

    Its strength was visibly fading.

There was even a sorrowful look in its eyes, making it resemble a puppy caught in the rain.

But the hunters felt no sympathy whatsoever.

That thing was nothing more than a monster that needed to be torn apart and killed.

“Alright, let’s finish this. Hold it down tight.”

    “Fire already, you bastard.”

S-rank Hunter Go Dong-min began gathering a massive, blazing sphere of light in his hand.

    Solar Flame.

A lethal technique that, as its name suggested, burned everything in its path.

Its one weakness was that it took some time to activate.

But in this situation, killing the beast would be child’s play.

    “Hup!”

    “Gyaaaaaah!”

    BOOOOOOM!

Solar Flame shot forward and engulfed the beast’s body.

    A short while later…

All that remained in its place was a pile of pitch-black ashes.

Go Dong-min let out a heavy sigh.

“Confirmation that the Ultra Beast has been eliminated. Leave the cleanup to the support team. We’re withdrawing now.”

    “Good work, everyone!”

The hunters finally relaxed, letting out sighs of relief as they began withdrawing from the scene.

And just as the area was still in the midst of chaos…

    “Kyii? Kyiki?”

    In the bushes below Namsan…

A strange animal with a black body, somewhere between a puppy and a cat, rolled its eyes around.

Then, without warning, it began sprinting westward.
